The Most Simple If Often the Most Effective

The world is forever trying to find the next great, cool, awesome promotional product to use as a giveaway at tradeshows.

While it is true people like to try new things and unique promotional products are eye-catching, it’s really tough to beat the old reliable PEN.  Yes, the pen.

Everyone, their brother, third cousin on their mother’s side and your neighbor’s teenager who has a lawn mowing business probably has a pen with their company logo on it.  That’s because pens have a fabulous way of both anging around on business people’s desks and they also get passed around to many individuals in their lifetime.

What should you focus on with your company pen?  Make sure it works properly.  There are few things more annoying in the world than grabbing a pen when you need one and having it either not work at all, or work poorly.  Before you commit to buying 500 pens for your business, ask for a sample and try out a few options.  Make sure, above all else, that they write properly.  A pen that’s lousy at doing its job makes a bad impression for your business.

What else should you consider when purchasing pens for your business?  Think about how it fits in your hand.  Will it fit comfortably in the hand of someone larger or small than you?  Ask a few people to try the pen before making your decision.

Pens come in all kinds of colors, but most of the time your limited to your print area.  Make sure you ask for a proof of how your logo, website, and phone number will look when imprinted on the pen.
Find a pen that matches your brand color.  Whether you consciously think about it or not, your brand is on everything you do and pens are no exception.  Don’t buy a pink pen if your brand color is brown.

One of our favorite pen brands is Bic.  They have a customizable option just for business owners.  Call Great River Office Products to learn more about ordering your pens for the next big tradeshow.
